Findings show that cotton was known in Central America as early as 5000 BC.

The first cotton fabrics came to Europe in the 2nd century.

Virtually the entire cotton plant is used - fibres, seeds and stems.

Domestic sheep wool is the most common wool in most parts of the world.

Wool has a unique ability to regulate body temperature.

Wool is biodegradable and can be composted.

Flax requires little fertiliser and is resistant to disease and therefore does not need to be sprayed.

Flax can be grown in cool, rainy climates and blooms in June-August.

Carl Linnaeus named flax Linum usitatissium, 'the most useful of all'.

Nonwoven materials

For more than 30 years, COMCO has produced and supplied nonwoven material to the bedding industry. The material is made from both synthetic and natural fibres, which are processed into a carded wadding or a needle-punched felt.

Synthetic wadding is usually made from polyester fibre while natural fibre wadding is made from wool, linen or cotton. The nonwoven material is supplied either in rolls or as pre-cut sheets in the desired thickness. Weight 40-2000g/m².
